Sassi in Tour with Twingo cabriolet

4.6 (153 verified reviews)

About This Experience

This is a private driving tour of the Sassi in a Renault Twingo with the roof folded back. Your driver guides you in English or Italian, and you can add Bluetooth audio in English, French, Spanish, German or Portuguese. It lasts about an hour and cost $39 per person when checked in October 2026. The car takes your own group of two to four adults; a minimum of two adults applies.

The listing gives no fixed itinerary, but it includes entry to two sites: the Church of San Pietro Caveoso, in the square of the same name in Sasso Caveoso, and the Casa Grotta Narrante, a furnished cave house. Between the stops the car covers lanes and viewpoints that take far longer on foot, and the driver points out rock churches and old houses along the way.

The tour suits couples and small families who want a private overview with a church and a cave house included and who would struggle with the stairs. You still walk into both sites, which means some steps and uneven stone. The car is private, so the pace follows your group with no waiting for other passengers. Both entry tickets are in the price.

The rating is 4.6 from 153 GetYourGuide reviews. The few lukewarm reviewers liked being driven up the steep hills but found the commentary basic and repetitive, so book it for an easy overview and pair it with a walking tour if you want depth. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the start. Bring a sun hat in summer, since the roof stays open.

What Travelers Say

Rated 4.6/5 by 153 verified GetYourGuide travelers.

The description should really say it’s appropriate for THREE people, not four. We got a message after we booked it saying if we weren’t “fit” we should book something else. But since we had made the reservation under 24 hours of the event, we couldn’t cancel. The three of us in the back were uncomfortable, luckily it was only an hour. Very misleading advertising, but the activity itself was good.

We had a limited amount of time in Matera, and the Twingo tour was a great way to see the city. Our guide was very informative and gave us a good overview of the history of this amazing town.

This was excellent, we had only just arrived in Matera and it gave us a brilliant insight into what lay ahead for us.
